You're going to need both an AMP and DAC if you want a DAC. I'd usually recommend going with a Schiit Stack and grabbing a Magni and Modi, but that exceeds your budget.

 

Are your headphones not getting loud enough? You need an AMP. Are you encountering distortion? You need a DAC. Unless you have shoddy onboard audio, investing in an AMP/DAC may not improve your listening experience.

Hmm in that case I think I'll keep the Schiits in mind but hold off on getting anything for now. Thank you for the help.
