No bootable device found

Go to solution Solved by bellabichon,

It's a brand new SSD? You'll need to reinstall Windows from a USB stick.

I'm trying to fix a Acer Aspire 3 A315-41-R18T that was dropped on the floor and then became pretty slow. It has a HDD so I suspect it's been running slow because of the HDD somehow getting damaged from the fall.

I opened it up and connected a Samsung SSD but when I try to boot it it says "No bootable device found".

Any ideas what's going on and how I can resolve this?

If you replaced the HDD with the SSD without installing an operating system on it, there is no bootable drive currently. you'll need to install Windows

Did this Samsung SSD replace your HDD? If so make sure you have an OS (or Operating System) installed on the drive. If you do have an OS installed then try checking you boot options in your bios.

To further explain. The boots options in your bios likely has a UEFI and a Legacy setting. Depending on what OS you may have installed you would have to change this setting between those two options to make your computer boot compatible with the OS.
