Certain ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 configs will squeak into that budget, including (if Amazon is right) versions with RTX 2060 graphics. Just remember that there's no built-in webcam, so you'd need a USB cam if your life revolves around Zoom or Teams video calls.

Those look good. Do you know if laptop prices are also inflated like GPU prices right now? Will they come back down later or have they stayed the same mostly?

They don't appear to be inflated, not in this case at least. But supply might be tight, and don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit longer than usual for shipping.

I HIGHLY recommend the laptop I just bought. Its a Gateway (nonononono, hear me out) Creator Series, $799 out the door at Wal-Mart.com only (nonononono, wait, for real.)
It comes w a 10th Gen i5, an Nvidia 2060RTX(mobile), 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD. I just upgraded mine and it is a BEAST for the price. Seriously, check it out man, its a great machine. RGB backlit keyboard, like all of the ports, easy to get into and upgrade, amazing 4K 1920x1080 screen.
Gateway Creator Series 15.6" FHD Performance Notebook, Intel i5-10300H, NVIDIA 2060 RTX, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Xbox Game Pass for PC, HD Webcam, Cortana, Windows 10 Home, Google Classroom Compatible. - Walmart.com - Walmart.com

Current Rig:
Gateway Creator Series Laptop: Intel i5 10300, Nvidia 2060RTX Mobile, 32GB Dual Channel RAM(Upgraded), 1.256TB SSD storage (256 internal, 1TB external upgraded) $799 before upgrades, roughly $1100 after.

Hello so I went looking at some local stores yesterday and I was thinking of waiting and trying to raise the budget. Is there any general advice for buying a gaming laptop like terms of what to look for in gpu and cpu?

Is there a significant difference between the 2070 and 2070s in a laptop and is a 2080s worth it in a laptop?

Any particular brands or models to avoid due to cooling issues or anything like that?

I'll be looking into it myself as well I was just wondering if you had quick answers to any of these off the top of your head.

Is this a troll post?

why do you ask that? Cuz the autocorrect put 4K in there for some reason?

I personally love my 2060, but the 2080 is probably the way to go if you can afford it

That's one reason but also the fact you're spinning rgb keyboard as a selling point and the fact it's "easily" upgradable. I've never seen a non-mac laptop that you couldn't get into with a screw driver.

I wouldn't fret over differences in the 2070 models. The 2080 will be faster, at least so long as it's well-cooled, but I wouldn't bend over backwards for it. Remember, there are now laptops with 30 series graphics, so you might want to look for something with a 3060 or 3070 if your budget allows... but also don't sweat if you can't find them, they may be tough to track down in the current climate.

I'd lean toward ASUS if I was buying, but MSI's GS series and some Alienware and Gigabyte models might work. I'd steer clear of 'entry' Dell and HP gaming laptops, since the thought of combining low-end Dell/HP build quality with hot-running CPUs and GPUs is... unpleasant.
