Standalone ARGB/RGB controller recommendations

Hi all,

I've recently build a new system on an MSi motherboard, to use Mystic Light but have discovered how bad it is.

I can't seem to do much at all with ML, so was looking for suggestions on a standalone ARGB/RGB controller that is powered from SATA or Molex and have built in effects that utilise the "addressable" in ARGB, as ML doesn't seem to have that ability.

ARGB components in my system;

EKWB Velocity ARGB CPU block
EKWB Radeon RX ARGB GPU block
EKWB ARGB res/pump
Phanteks 140 Halos (D-RGB)
Phanteks D-RGB strips
G.Skill Trident Z

RGB components in my system;

Phanteks 120 Halos (probably will have to be excluded as they aren't addressable).

I'm from the UK, so anything suggested needs to be purchasable from the UK 🙂

thanks!

What problems exactly are you having? I'm running dragon centre and using mystic light from in there. I have mobo rgb, ram rgb and a fan argb contoller thats plugged into my mobo. I have them all synced at steady red so its constant red. I can do things like pulse lighting and rainbow colours but my rig is black and red. What im trying to say is it's working ok for me.

There's just not many presets or an ability to make custom profiles. Half the options in Dragon Centre are a bit rubbish. I have steady red also, but what's the point on having a single steady colour when using ARGB components?

the way i under stand it cheaper mb have cramp rgb software and more expensive have better. still corsair has the best options when it come to custom argb but you need an bible to use it... and only corsair stuff works with it with out modded cables even the not all animations will work.

My faith in Corsair has been shaken lately when I tried to setup my 11 fans via two commander pro's and the iCue software can't make up it's mind whether it wants to show the fans or not.

My motherboard is the MSI MEG Unify z490, using MSI Mystic Light. I had an Asus board with Asus Aura sync which didn't work with my RAM, so I had to manage that separately. I thought MSI would have a decent offering but I'm a bit disappointed.

11 Corsair Fans; 9 ML140 and 2 ML120 fans (non-rgb)

I've found out that I can (using a custom cable) connect my ARGB devices up to my Commander Pros and use iCue to configure the colours and presets.

I'm just wanting on receiving said cable to give this a try.

it eill work but w/e port you hook it to if your spliting it will be a clone. and if it has more leds or less leds some animations will be messed up becuse corsair software is setup for there fans and there nuber of leds per fan. the ml fans have 4 leds. if you attached a 8 led strip to the hub the ml fans are on the animation might only light up 4 leds or 4 leds will match and 4 leds will be repeated. but i guess you find that out.

I've changed my mind about controlling through iCue, as the Phanteks controller has better modes for the ARGB items in the build, so I've bought a second controller so will only use iCue for fan controlling. Thanks for the insight though, very helpful indeed!
