Ram issues.

Go to solution Solved by Armyman2445,

Got home yesterday, and tried 3 different bios.  I found one that let me use all 4 ram slots but not the NVME slot.  Used another to use NVME slot but only 2 ram slots.  I found one old Bios from V2.1 that allowed me to use both NVME and all ram slots and allowed a ram OC.     FYI.  these Chinese boards are a PITA.  They are a great mix of modern features and older powerful Xeons, for budget systems.  But if you want to build simple and powerful, go with all new parts.

I am having problems with Ram.  Specs:

Chinese X79 Mobo (Machinist V2.82)

E5-2690v2

32gb Samsung ECC 1600mhz ram 4x8

The system will not post with all 4 dimms installed.  I can take 1, any 1 out and it will post.  I have taken 1 dimm out of every slot to check to see if any slots are bad.  I have rotated through all sticks of ram individual to see if any ram modules are bad.  All slots are good and all ram modules are good. BUT it refuses to post with all 4.  The mobo supports 64gb, so I am a little lost.  I know there are some quirks to these Frankenstein mobo's.  But the combo fills my needs for CAD, easily.    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There are some known quirks (as you have said) with these boards, but I also know some BIOS updates/mods, have helped.

The guy who has the know-how on these boards is here:
