Do I want more or less voltage?  How does it translate to performance?

Firstly we need to answer what your use case is as this changes the answer to your first question. As for performance that's dependent on timings, bandwidth, and frequencies not so much voltage.

Well, I’m planning a build for a PC that will be used for gaming.  Probably not a much gaming, but 4K gaming with a 3090.  Most of the time, however, it would just be used for everyday casual tasks.

 

Basically, when I do use it for gaming, I want top-of-the-line performance.  But as you said, voltage doesn’t really affect that.  So what role does voltage play in RAM?
