Alright - thanks for you input 馃檪, what about the 2nd motherboard (Z87 MPOWER)?

its the right motherboard for the chip.

Hi there,

Some years back I bought some cheap hardware that I really never got working:

  • Motherboard: B75MA-P45 聽聽聽 (socket: LGA115X - which I believe includes LGA1150)
  • CPU聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 : G3258聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 聽 聽聽 (socket: FCLGA1150 - which I believe is referred to as simply LGA1150)

Then later not being able to get it working, I bought another motherboard at the time thinking it was an issue due to the socket or something I do not remember.

  • Motherboard: Z87 MPOWER聽 (socket: 115XLM - which I believe to be compatible too for the LGA1150)

To clear it all up I guess my question simply is whatever or not both of these motherboards are compatible, and the issue may have been a fault with the chip or maybe more likely; an error on my part?

Many thanks for reading through my unsolved 6 year old mystery -- which intrigues me so much I am considering buying compatible hardware just to figure out what tortured me with this build聽馃槃.

The G3258 should be compatible with both of these motherboards, it's a regular Haswell processor (so not a refresh) and should be fine with any version of the BIOS. Wondering if the pentium itself is not working properly.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black聽(with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux聽- Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explained,聽group reg is bad

Sorry, I am really not sure how to interpret this.

B75MA-P45 is a motherboard for socket lga1155 which is used for second and third聽gen intel cpus

g3258 is for lga1150 which is a different socket altogether
