Gday I was looking to buy a second hand pc given how buying anything new currently is near impossible. I plan on upgrading some of the components when I get the money but for 800 AUD (622 USD) is this a good deal?

I7-3770K

Corsair H100i AIO

16GB Corsair Vengance RAM

Asus Sabertooth z77 Mobo

Corsair AX850psu

Corsair Obsidian 650D case

Rx580 gpu 8gb

240GB ssd

thanks for any help

I don't think it's a good deal. It's a 2012 PC and in this era only the GPU, PSU and maybe the case are still worth it.

Let's say the GPU is worth $300 these days, while it was $150 last year. The CPU is just worth like $100 and the PSU also as well. The board and ram were expensive back in the day, but along with the cpu the chipset and DDR3 are past standards right now. Then the SSD is worth like $25, case and AIO I'm not sure about from top of my head. The PSU is still nice, even though not ready for say RTX 3000 cards.

Even though these days the i7 3770K is still a good cpu, it's falling behind because of its age. Also, you would have no room for any upgrades in the future as a better gpu would bottleneck it. I suggest you to look around for a more recent system, unless you're interested in this system just for the gpu. Without the gpu I'd pay like $200 for this build, so I think it's a tad too expensive.

its $622, and the 580 is rarely found for under 350 lol.

580 - 350
3770K + MOBO + RAM + CPU - 250
PSU - 50 - 75
Case - 50
SSD - 20

Seems good too me

I'm in Europe, so prices are a bit different.
Here's how my calculation would be:

580 - 300

3770K - 100

Mobo - 50

RAM - 50

AIO - 25

PSU - 50

Case - 30

SSD - 25

Total $630

Oh, turns out its $630 after all. I based my prices on i7 3770K PC's without GPU going for like $200 in here, that's why. lol

In here, if you look really hard you can get the i7 3770K for $50 only and 16GB DDR3 RAM for just $30 and even a free case if you're lucky.

By the way, I think you meant AIO instead of CPU there.

It's a decent deal then, but I still doubt if I would take it because of its age. 9 year old beast from the past, but not so compared to today's Ryzen, fast DDR4, etcetera. Also I personally like newer tech like M.2. The deal would be fine for 1080p gaming though, if not planning to upgrade later.

Nah, since you're an Aussie, I'll let you on a tip about buying pre-builds. Watch OZbargins.com.au. They always have pre-builds  great for value. Like for an extra $300 (aus) you can get right now (The GPU is selling for $900 alone lol)

"Intel® Core™ i5-9400F Hexa Core LGA 1151 Processor Up to 4.1Ghz
Stock Cooler
Gigabyte B365M HD3 Motherboard
MSI RTX 3060 GAMING X 12GB Graphics
2x G.Skill F4-3000C16S-8GISB Aegis 8GB DDR4 3000MHz Memory
Samsung 860 Evo 250GB M.2 SATA III 6GB/s V-NAND SSD (Eligible for Samsung SSD CASH BACK!)
Deepcool Matrexx 40 Tempered Glass side panel PC Case
EVGA 500 GD 500W 80+ Gold Non-Modular Power Supply"

Which would destroy the current PC you are looking at buying.

Take from this what you will.... I just thought I'd see NEW prices,.. note.. there are ways to scrimp further, but I wouldn't chase looser timed ram or smaller drives or lesser known PSU brands....
Also feel free to ignore this post if you don't want to hunt a GPU like that...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

The price of the CPU, AIO and GPU alone are the price of the whole PC in the current market.
(That CPU still goes for 100 - 150, and the GPU now goes for 400.)

Seems like a pretty good deal

I was agreeing with you,  but that aussie pre-built deal with 3060 looks mighty good...

So while that's not necessarily a bad deal in the current situation, the stuff is just really outdated and the GPU is only tempting due to current ridiculous prices,  so yeah,  it's an ok deal but something newer for a bit more makes just more sense,  heck even an APU would be a good option, temporarily.

And let's not forget,  used... no warranty and parts may well be past their lifespan for all we know.

The direction tells you... the direction
