any notisable difference while browsing-high end or low end laptop?

the title says it all.

my Mom needs a laptop for browsing and such,but i will be using it now and then.-and i hate unresponsiveness!

Yes and no, Between something like a Celeron and Ryzen 3 or i3 the difference is night and day. But between an R3/i3 and a R5/i5 the difference is far less noticeable but it just smooths out any kinks. Really you just want an SSD in the machine more than anything with an R3/i3 to avoid weak Celeron machines

H e l l   n  o, hes going to want to shoot himself over a chromebook in a year's time. These things don't age well with the terrible specs they tend to have. The tiny escalation into proper Windows laptops for an R3 or i3 is far better than the savings of a chromebook

Quad core CPU, 8GB RAM and a small SSD makes a great browsing computer IMO

Not really, as a 4 year owner of a chromebook who's sole purpose is to do schoolwork on it has been horrific since day 1. I will 9 times out of 10 use my main machine over the Chromebook due to how insanely slow the Chromebook is. The only thing it has going for it is the battery life

Its an HP 11 G5. These things are horrifically slow and struggle to even open up google drive. 45% of it being on the Celeron and the rest on the lack of RAM

My previous Chromebook was a Lenovo 11e but it also had 4 GB of RAM. It just one day decided to not detect the disk anymore. lol

Ive confirmed its a 2 GB model (Thanks HP's website) This thing is just awful, ive got a machine thats exact copy in specs as my chromebook but runs Windows however that runs with 4 GB of RAM. That machine is infinitely more responsive than this chromebook

im currently looking at

Asus VivoBook 17 M712 with a 3500u.

Acer Aspire 5 a517-52 17" with an i5 1135g7.

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17are05 17" with a 4500u.(this only have 256gb storage,the others have 512)

 

they have similar specs except the cpu.

 

i am a bit concerned about the upgarde paths on laptops.u think these would hold up over the next 5-8 years?i mean,theyre both 1080p and i dont see programs needing too much more resources in a few years than they do now.the trend over the last 5 years have been the opposite but i dont think it will continue like that in the future.

input on my thoughts?

do u know much about Medion laptops,build quality?

The VivoBook might be just about fine but from what I remember those have soldered on RAM, The Aspire's i5 would do fine and is probably is more energy efficient than the 3500U. Ive got no idea about the IdeaPad however the 4500U would handsomely compensate for the lack of storage though it would be overkill. Personally id choose between the Acer or the Lenovo as these 2 give you an opportunity to upgrade as you go down the line. My own 2500U held up very well under gaming loads for 4 years so web browsing on something like a 1135G7 or 4500U would easily pass for 4-5 years 

 

No comment on Medion as ive never heard of them
