Z390M bios update (Losing performance i7 9700k)

hi guys, so currently i have a gigabyte z390 m gaming.

i've updated the bios to the last one F9m from the f7 version and doing some cinebench runs i saw that i lost about 40 points on it :S

is it a normal thing? should i go for the f7 bios again to recover my performance loss?

(I'm running a i7 9700k 5ghz/4.7cache)

Update CPU microcode SA-00295 to solve potential security vulnerabilities in CPU, please refer to more information:

This is probably why to cover up those loopholes. When they fixed Spectre and Meltdown CPU vulnerabilities, Intel CPUs took a marginal performance hit.

I wouldn't really worry about a 40 pt loss on a Cinebench benchmark run. There are also other variables at play such as background tasks and temp headroom for the processor to boost, unless you have a manual overclock on the board (or using auto).

I would still just leave it alone and keep using the latest BIOS.

Bump your cache to 4.8ghz see if that helps.

I don't know if you can un-do microcode updates by dropping back BIOS revisions, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ultimately you'll lose a small amount (i lost about 200 points in CBR23 which was around 2% off my 8700k from a 2018 post-spectre update to the latest one from 2019) but it won't really impact you TOO much.
