New GPU Recommendations

JeremyDS77

Budget (including currency): 500-600

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Some light gaming mostly previous gens, nothing heavy duty for workload, longevity

Like I indicated in a prior post, I'm upgrading my PC due to a system crash. Thankfully my GPU (GTX 760 Ti didn't die). I want to start keeping an eye for a modern GPU when supply and prices come back... hopefuly by fall.  I tend to rebuild every 4-6 years. I don't have a preference in AMD vs nVidia. I've used both at different times. Here's what I have:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Gigabyte X570 Gaming X
  • G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB 3200
  • EVGA 750 G2 PSU
  • Thermaltake H22 case
  • Samsung 970 EVO SSD
  • Seagate 1 TB disk drive

Thanks for all the recommendations.

IF the market was normal and the 30 series was in stock, you could get a 3070. Due to the current situation, for that amount you'd likely "only" be able to get a rx 5700 (xt if you're lucky). Again, it depends on your local pricing and how the situation is where you live, but now really isn't a good time to buy a GPU.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

3070. If the Used market goes back to normal then I’d go with a used 1080ti.

geometry is hard
b550 > x570
