today i smelled something burning on my room, and i could smell it really strongly near my PSU.

now i pulled the power cord out of the wall, and i disconnected the power cable from the PSU, and i saw this:

Neutral pin got burned....poor contact with the PSU socket, most likely. It's not a problem with the PSU itself, it's a problem of not having the cable properly socketed. Either that or your outlet isn't wired correctly.

At least, those were the problems I've dealt with, with previous builds that had the cord melt

Could it be the power input socket of the PSU?

I had 3 other cables like that that I replaced, but I thought it was a bad cable

What's the exact make and model of the PSU? You can take a picture of the sticker on the side of the PSU if you want. Chances are something inside the PSU itself gave out, resulting in an arc that manifested as fiery burning plastic in the socket.

Looking at those exhaust holes... it looks like you either live inside an active construction zone with dust constantly falling on your system, or it hadn't been properly cleaned, the PSU, in many years.

The cable wasn't connected properly I think.

Replace that psu, it's garbage.
