Hello,

I have a Schiit Modi/Magni stack and I'm really happy with it.

First of all, I want to buy an XLR mic, so I'll need an audio interface.

How can I connect my schiit stack with it (something like the Scarlett 2i2, Motu M2, ...) ? If it's possible, could I use the monitoring feature ?

I read some posts about a Magni/audio interface combo (using the DAC of the interface) but I already have the Modi so I want to use it.

And I'd like to buy some studio monitors soon, how could I connect them ?

Thank you for your help.

Since you've already made a complete stack, you cannot use direct monitoring with a Modi and a Magni.

Your only option would be to connect your Magni to a 2i2/Motu M2 via RCA, both of which have very capable DACs.

You could also use your Schiit Stack for playback, then use the audio interface only for the mic preamp and ADC. Most software allows you to select different devices for your audio input and audio output.

That said, there is nothing not to like about the DAC in the M2 or the 2i2.

@H713

Excuse me but what's ADC ?

If I understand well, I can do 2 setups : one with the headphones stuff (and speakers) and the other with the mic stuff. But I could'nt use direct monitoring.

That's a good thing to know.

Analogue to Digital Converter.

The opposite of a DAC.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.
