Mute button doesn't work when headset is plugged into st100 headset stand

As the the title suggests, whenever I plug my headset (philips shp9500) into the corsair st100 headset stand, it disables my mute button. This means that, if I flip the mute switch to the mute position, my microphone will still pickup my voice, This problem also occurs with other headsets but only when connected to the audio jack on the st100 headset stand. 

When connect to either the motherboard audio or the front io, the mute switch works normally.

 

Is there any way of fixing this?
