Almost 3 years ago, I bought an EVGA GTX 980 FTW. A few days after, I started to notice that after doing something graphically intensive, like playing games, my monitor would randomly turn black. Turning down the clock speed made it happen less often. I was thinking of doing an RMA, but I bought this card sealed from a seller on Ebay and the warranty was non-transferable. Just recently, I found out that this wasn't an isolated occurrence and that many people have had problem with this same model. Is there something I could do or am I out of luck?

I've tried an hdmi cable instead of a mini display port and the same thing happened. When I search gtx 980 FTW black screen problems on google, there are other people who get the same thing so I assume my graphics card is at fault.

I got the same problem on a GTX 970 I had in the past. It died, and I got a new one from EVGA back then, but that was after 2 years and 9 months of use. Highly overclocked by the way....

I assume you got a new one within your warranty period though? Also, mine crashes even if I'm at stock clocks or underclocked.

Yeah, EVGA sent me a new one after I sent the broken one back. That was 2 years and 11 months after the purchase. The warranty was good for 3 years total. It wouldn't crash without any load on it, but as soon as I launched any game (I was playing Diablo 3 back then), the screen would go black.
