For the past few months, I have been interested in the Huawei P30 Pro and whether I should buy it or not. Because of the Google situation with Huawei, Huawei is unable to get google apps, android system and software updates after Huawei p30 series phones. Do you mind to do a Huawei P30 Pro phone review on YouTube, in the video do you mind to review the phone and review about the google apps, android system and software updates, and review whether the phone can update to android 11 and keep using all google apps and receive future software/system updates please?

 

(I am worried that Huawei phones will not get Android updates and all google apps anymore because with the US sanctions, and I found that Huawei is pretty much like Android flagship killer and they have really good phones.)

So.

 

LTT has already done a video covering the phone.

 

Google apps - you can use hacked versions of LZPLAY to install it on P30 pro devices.

 

Android - its pretty much going to be android 10 at the best (EMUI11), unless you root the phone and install another OS by unlocking the boot locker through 3rd party tools, but this means that you have to roll back your system version to < =EMUI9 so... AND YOU LOSE ALL HUAWEI SUPPORT.

 

So yeah, summary:

 

1. No android 11. Only EMUI 11 (and whatever Huawei develops after that)

2. Yes Google.

3. This is a phone from 2-3 years ago that is at the end of its life cycle. Be ready to hear the news that Huawei dropped updates for this phone.

 

So yeah. While this is still a good phone, unless you are a real geek you should steer away from all the software options, or just stick with EMUI. It is seriously not that bad.

I recently sold off my P30 Pro (256GB) version, though the camera is awesome, I'm not much for selfies and picture taking in general (not on FB, Instagram, Twitter, etc) so a good camera isn't a 'must have' function.

 

It was my 2nd or backup phone, and I use it mainly for media consumption. I'd also installed a 256GB Huawei Nano SD card, but I want more storage for my ripped videos and music. I went with a used Note 10+ 512GB with a 512GB mSD card, now a happy camper as I've doubled my storage capacity. Another reason for me swapping the P30 Pro was the uncertainty concerning its future.....OS and security updates.

 

I figured I'd better sell it off while it still has relatively good resale value....

To add to what skNDstry said... yeah, just move on. Even if  the P30 Pro wasn't a couple of years old, the US trade ban basically obviated the reasons to buy that phone. You just can't count on getting updates through official Google mechanisms.

 

More recent Huawei phones do get OS updates, but not through Google's usual methods — and of course, you won't have access to the Play Store. The Huawei AppGallery has a pretty thin selection of titles, too, so you'll most likely be sideloading some apps.

 

It sucks, especially since a lot of the concerns about Huawei spying through phones are speculative at best, but it's the practical reality. There are great camera phones beyond the P30 Pro, like the Galaxy S21 Ultra or (gasp) iPhone 12 Pro Max. If you have the budget for them, they're worth a look.
