5. Why are you upgrading?  I am upgrading because my computer is poop and I wish to do more gaming, this is more or less an actual "New build" because in the end there won't me many parts that I won't replace from this computer however I will likely upgrade a little slowly as I don't have a ton of cash laying around begging to be spent.

I know a thing or two about computers, used to know more but I have fallen behind the times. I will have no problems putting it all together but as far as what parts are the best / most cost efficient is why I am coming to you guys. I do plan on overclocking, perhaps not right off the bat but it is the plan. Thanks for all your help, i'm sure I will learn a thing or two.

1. Budget & Location I live in Canada and I am trying to do this build for around 1500$ (this will include ssd and some other things I haven't filled out in my parts list), I am probably going to buy the parts over a period of 2 or 3 months so I might try to upgrade a few things at a time if possible.

2. Aim I am mostly going to use this system for gaming

3. Monitors I currently have 2 monitors but I am considering upgrading to 3. ( My current 2 monitors are 1600 x 900, a bit small so I will likely get 3 new larger monitors)

4. Peripherals;

a) I  have a Deathadder mouse (although I may get as func ms 3 revision 2 as I find the deathadder doesn't have enough buttons other mice suggestions would be appreciated)

B) I have a blackwiddow ultimate keyboard (I will probably stay with it for a while, i'm not partial to it but I don't mind it either)

c) I have a siberia v2 frost eddition (usb) (Again not partial to it all, in fact I will likely be shopping for a new headset/headphone &mod mic before long)

These are the parts i've picked out:  ( Definitely open to change any / all of them)

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid

Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 ATX LGA1155

Memory: I already have 12 GB of ddr3 that I plan on using for now

Storage: I would like to buy an ssd but probably won't happen for a few months, for now I have a 1Tb hardrive

Video Card:  EVGA GeForce GTX 760 4GB

Case:   This is one of the things I have a problem choosing (look below)

PSU: Currenly I have a shitty one that came with my hp (460 Watt max output) I'm pretty sure that isn't going to cut it (look below)

Optical Drive: I have one but I don't honestly thing I will need it

OS: I was thinking about getting windows 8.1 but I've been using windows 7 for a long time so I don't know if its a good idea. (thoughts?)

Case:  I was thinking about a black one, window is nice but not necessarily required, remember i plan on overclocking (and liquid cooling) so airflow and space is something that needs to be considered. I was looking at the Corsair Graphite Series 600T fan control switch seemed cool, i'll likely use lots of fans so corsair link will probably not be used for everything.

PSU: I don't really know where to start here. My current psu is shitty probably won't work(?)

Again thanks for your help

EDIT: The 1500$ would have to include an ssd later I don't think i'll be getting it for a while
EDIT EDIT:  NEW THREAD

The NZXT is awesome thanks for that :)

When I was looking at cpu's the i5-3570K and  i5-4670K were both really similar in performance, would it make a big difference to go with a 4670k?

What are your current parts

My current computer is a HP pavilion couple things upgraded on it but mostly out of the box.

AMD Phenom II x4 955

AMD Radeon HD 6770

MotherBoard  foxconn 2a92

PSU Didn't get the name but it said 460 Watt max output - pretty sure that will need to be upgraded right away...

  • 2 weeks later...

Consider going with a Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 and a Noctua 120mm CPU cooler.  The H100i in a Corsair Graphite 600T isn't the optimal configuration.  I purchased the 600T based on its' looks and the reviews that I saw on it.  Placed the fans for the H100i under the top grill as recommended by corsair.  I am not exactly thrilled with the results.

Gaming Rig: Corsair Graphite 600T, Asus Maximus VI Formula, Intel I7-4770K, Corsair H100i, Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1866MHZ 32GB, ASUS DirectCU II OC GTX780TI, 1TB Samsung EVO 840, 1TB WD Back, 4TB WD Green, Corsair AX860i

Work Rig: Fractal Design Arc Midi 2, Asus Z87-A, Intel I7-4770K, Noctua NH-U12S, Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600MHZ 32GB, ASUS DirectCU II OC GTX 760, 1TB Samsung EVO 840 (x2), 4TB WD Green, Corsair RM750
