Painting a Corsair Obsidian 900D

So I have a Corsair 900D on pre-order but seeing as I am tired of having a standard black case I wanted to make myself something different.

Now seeing as I have never actually seen a Corsair Obsidian series case I'm curious as to what I might need doing for prep work?

Also curious if I should just paint this (I have access to a proper paint booth and all that) or get it powder coated?

its completely up to u, i find painting it your self gives better results cause u take more care of it, just remember to use a few layers of primer and and paint for the best effect.

also u will need to completely dismantle the case to make your life easier. it depends on the colour though

(black primer for dark colours)

(white primer for brighter colours)

I was planning on going with a white colour, in a somewhat matte finish.

I'm assuming that the case comes powder coated from the factory since that seems to be thing these days, anything special that needs to be done apart from sanding it down and cleaning it?

ohhhh are you in for a treat..

color changing black steel and aluminum to white..

stripping the old off, course-blasting to get the new coating to adhere,

and any mods before final color..

this man has done it for a living and has done the 800D

search for: CyberDruidtheModGod

hes since giving up the PC world, but his videos live-on

get to search box with 800D and enjoy..

should be about 120hrs of work, prep and modifications

on the 800D for the 900D a lil less.. but 900D has more parts!

I don't think you even paint anodised aluminium. It's anodised to get that color.

paint can cover anything as long as it has a way to etch or bond to the part.

anodizing is usually only surface staining. depending on charge and how long

its submerged will only penetrate .0001-.010 deep depending on alloy. a

simple scuff can usually remove the anodization or at least enough to hold paint.
