VSYNC and FreeSync question

Got a 144hz samsung monitor. Is it best to have freesync " Off " " Standard " or " ultimate "

It seems turning it on slows down the response time

Also. In the Nvidia control panel you can have VSYNC on/off/fast/adaptive etc ??

No one seems to agree on this stuff.

 

Should you cap FPS to ~3 under monitor refresh or exactly on it?

 

Freesync will add lag but only in its active range, so when you want less lag get FPS to your max refresh rate where it turns off, even if that means less detail etc.

 

I always have v-sync off, bar some real edge cases I wouldn't use it.
