As long as the BIOS is not getting reset back to default specs after unplugging the power cord and draining any residual charge left in the computer system, the battery is fine. If you see any corrosion (I've personally never seen it on a button cell battery in a computer yet), bulging, white powder, or dirty contacts, you should be fine without changing the battery.

Do you mean a voltmeter? I'm pretty sure they will provide a false reading as if you check with VDC, the battery will shows close to 3.3V.
