oc_peg and connection options

but after looking at ax1600I specsheet seems like it has 8 pcie connectors which is enough for 4x quadro 8000s

Hi all,

 

I’m trying to finish my 4 gpu deep learning rig. My mobo is the Gigabyte Aurous Xtreme trx40. I have a Corsair AX 1600i PSU. So here’s the conundrum. If I connect the oc_peg to a pcie slot on the PSU, then there aren’t enough slots left to power all the gpus. I looked at the peripheral slots and I’m wondering if it’s viable connect oc_peg there or perhaps through a sata slot. If that is viable, how would I do this? Is there a 6 pin to 6 pin cable or else a sata to 6 pin adapter?

Think I found the solution. A SATA to 6 pin adapter. Just ordered one from Amazon. Fingers crossed everything works.

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

Gpu tier list. Rtx 3000 and RX 6000 not included since not so many reviews. Tier S for Water cooling. Tier A and B for overcloking. Tier C stock and Tier D avoid.

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

Appreciate the response. I guess the thing is the PSU has enough pcie connectors for 4 quadros or 3 quadros and the oc_peg slot, but not both apparently. Unless I’m being really dense and missing something obvious, which happens way to often.

Correction. SavageNeo your absolutely right! All I need is a pcie cable splitter coming directly from the PSU—one end going into the gou and the other into the OC-peg. All the wattages add up. Thanks dude 😊
