Sound audio question

Hey all, I'm not sure if this is possible or if it is I haven't been able to find any easy solutions online (or been looking up the wrong things), but, for an easy example, I would like to play a game(valheim atm) and hear that game audio through my headset while my s.o. watches something from netflix through chrome on the TV(connected from PC to tv via hdmi). I'm able to do it for some games such as SMITE, but they have an in game option for audio output that I set output to my headphones and that works. Does the specific game have to have that same option or am I s.o.l.? or are there and options on PC to select or software to download to be able to do what I want to do?
