So starting off... Ik that what im doing is pretty wasteful to some and unnecessary, but also this is pretty intriguing to me and also sounds like a fun project if I can do this right.

I don't have experience doing this yet but from what I can gather about this its feels pretty possible and I wanted to post about what I'm going to do soon as well as hear some opinions and maybe words of advise.

So when it comes to AIOs I've seen that they usually have these rotatable connections that just plug into the side or top of the CPU block, and around this time I found a AIO that has a CPU block I really like (you see what I'm getting at ;D)...

I'm going to take the CPU block out from an AIO by pulling the plug from the block (example1) and insert a custom fitting (example2) and adapt it into a G1/4 Thread.

Some notes to remember:

  • The clearance from the CPU block to ram is pretty small
  • I'm terrified if galvanic corrosion
  • Yes the pump isn't as strong as a DDC but I doubt I'll put it under any more stress than what it would've had
  • Different AIOs have their tubes secured differently (example1 compared to example3)
  • I don't know if the hole on the CPU block that connects to the tube will be the same size for all AIOs
  • This is just a "for the fun of it" type of project
  • I am buying a new AIO just for this project

Some guides I'm taking reference from: vid1, vid2, blog1, blog2, ref1

You should buy a used AIO for cheap if you can find one for a good price that you like. Most of the stuff I've seen on Craigslist looks too high that its better to make a custom loop buying from AliExpress. I haven't taken part an AIO yet, but I do read up on this to plan for one in the distance future when I feel my Deepcool Castle isn't working anymore. I'm sure its possible if you are able to work around DIY solutions.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X   Motherboard: MSI X570 Gaming Edge Wifi   Case: Deepcool Maxtrexx 70   GPU: RTX 3090   RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3x16GB 3200 MHz   PSU: Super Flower 850W
