Lets enjoy some memberries

hey guys, i just built a very basic starter Pc for a buddy of mine. it has a AMD Athlon X4 645 paired with a GTX 560 and 8gbs of ddr3 ram @1333mhz. and seeing his face light up from it was awesome! This is his first real experiance with pc gaming. and when seeing his excitement I thought damn, like i didnt get into pc hardware/ gaming until 2016 but if i had a rig like that i wouldve went nuts in 2012-2014ish. so what do you think? was that a good system back then? or what was your first Pc build? im curious of how nostalgic we can get. i would love for linus and the gang to do a vid with this idea

First build was an Athlon XP 2200 with a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra, on an A7N8X Deluxe. Had two 17" CRT's, a Logitech MX510, and I think, maybe 8GB of RAM in it.

Some cheesy case with a plexi side panel and a light up jewel for a power button. It was awesome.

Work Rigs - 2015 15" MBP | 2019 15" MBP | 2021 16" M1 Max MBP | Lenovo ThinkPad T490 |

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X  |  MSI B550 Gaming Plus  |  64GB G.SKILL 3200 CL16 4x8GB |  AMD Reference RX 6800  |  WD Black SN750 1TB NVMe  |  Corsair RM750  |  Corsair H115i RGB Pro XT  |  Corsair 4000D  |  Dell S2721DGF  |

Fun Rig - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X  |  MSI B550 Tomahawk  |  32GB G.SKILL 3600 CL16 4x8GB |  AMD Reference 6800XT  | Creative Sound Blaster Z  |  WD Black SN850 500GB NVMe  |  WD Black SN750 2TB NVMe  |  WD Blue 1TB SATA SSD  |  Corsair RM850x  |  Corsair H100i RGB Pro XT  |  Corsair 4000D  |  LG 27GP850  |

My first build was only in 2019 and I'm still using it (although a few upgrades have been done) so I'm not very nostalgic about it right now but I probably will be in the future when I have done more builds

you will get there, once the last bit of ur OG build is gone/ sold off. i just tossed a 250gb hdd i threw into my first gaming pc and it kinda sucks to see it go.

For what it's worth, it probably would've been better than going the AMD FX route.

Throwback to mid-2016 when I scavenged my older brother's first PC to build mine. Thing was an absolute shitbox, but it got me through around a year of Team Fortress 2, even if the RAM was wildly unstable in it, even at 1066MHz.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!
