Hello everyone!

I recently moved into an apartment complex with “community wifi”. It seems the connection here is secure so that’s all well and fine.

My issue is, the apartment complex was just built, and with that they only added one Ethernet port where the tv would go in every apartment. No where else in the house is there a wifi port and the apartment complex says they will not add ports to any rooms. My computer does not have a wifi card so I’ve been trying to use my google wifi routers in the Ethernet port in the wall. It seems the routers will not connect to the internet here.

Do I have to buy a wifi card for my pc??

Thank you in advance.

Well what's your motherboard? If you're connecting to the internet and your motherboard doesn't support wifi- then probably.
Also, You don't seem to have any problems with the public wifi, so why the routers?

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

Pardon me if I missed something, but if you’re trying to use Google WiFi on a computer that doesn’t have a WiFi card, how is this setup supposed to help?

I understand what you’re trying to do, but your apartment probably has those ports configured for a single client use which links to a central switch/router. If you attach your own router without properly configuring it, you’ll be running double-NAT with IP conflicts.

But you’d still need a WiFi card if you were to use the apartment’s WiFi or your Google WiFi anyway.

I have two google wifi stations, I was trying to use one to send signal to my other in the office then plug into the office Google wifi.
