If you want to use sas drives, you need a sas controller, not matter what cables your using as the signals are different.

Just to add to this topic . I wanna know where can i find resources which can explain to me the different types of cables for SAS. I new to SAS mainly due to my work. I have a few industrial machines running SAS mechanical drives. I bought a SAS SSD recently tried to plug it into my Xeon workstation with on board SAS controller but it it wont even detect.. can anyone help with this ..

Try checking out your bios settings for that mobo. there might be a setting that has them disabled.
