Hello.

I am new to this forum, and english is not my first language, so I am sorry if this is posted in wrong forum, and my language!

I have recently build my first PC in about 8-9.years.

I had a X79 build with 3930k CPU, 32GB memory all stock, PSU: Corsair AX760.

I've upgraded to:

ASUS ROG B500 -F Gaming WiFi (BIOS version 12.02 21.10.2020)

AMD Ryzen 3700X

Hyper X 16GB 3200Mhz CL18 memory - D.O.C.P is enabled. (thinking about upgrade 2 32GB 3200MHz CL17 or CL16 in the next months).

NZXT Kraken 73

NZXT H710

M.2 NVME SSD

PSU: Corsair AX760

The only thing I "re-use" is harddrive/ SSD drives and PSU from my earlier build.

I tought my new PC was going to be a good build, but in Cinebench R20 I keep getting score as low as 500 - 505, in both test (Multitread and Single Core).

When I seach around on the internet everyone is getting much higher multicore score.

In Windows task manager I see that only 10-15% of my CPU is in use when I run Cinebench R20.

I have tried different settings in Ryzen Master, and in AI Suite 3, but i don't see any difference.

Can someone please help?

I don't won't to overclock CPU if i don't have to, but I will get the score of a stock 3700x in Cinebench.

did you reuse your windows install as well? If so, do a full clean re-install of windows and make sure you download your chipset drivers.

I installed Windows 10 Pro 20H2 as clean install on my M.2 NVMe SSD, and installed all drivers from ASUS website, and ADM Ryzen Master from AMD website.

I did not install chipset drivers from AMD website as they seems to be older then the chipset drivers from ASUS website.

I have now also updated BIOS, loaded all default settings, and only activated D.O.C.P, and run Cinebench again, and the result is the same. I only got 500, and that is with the multithread test. After I upgraded my BIOS the Fan xpert profiles was deleted, and I can't set the RPM speed on my chassis fan any longer, but that is not so big of a deal (yet).

Are you using a stable BIOS or Beta?

I was using the BIOS that was on my motherboard from the factory.

But i upgraded today to latest version, that says it BETA on ASUS homepage, but many internet posts and Youtube videos says that it says beta because of the backwords compatibility, so i thought it was OK to upgrade to ut.

I personally never would recommend a BETA bios. There have been lots of problems the last month or so with Beta BIOS's and rolling back resolved it. I would try the newest NON Beta BIOS.

I have now tried to do that, and also installed Windows 10 again, and only windows update, drivers from ASUS, and AMD + AMD Ryzen Master. Restart everytime the computer has asked me to do it, and downloaded Cinebench R20 and run that again. Score on Multitread is 507 and single core is 505.

It has to be something wrong, but I don't know if it is the CPU or the MB. I can't just go out and buy a new CPU or MB :/

I dont think any of the pins were bent when I installed the CPU. It did "fall" into the holes at the socket and the triangle matched. The pin for the socket that you have to put down after installing a cpu, was a little hard, but not much, so I did not use any force to get it in place.

BIOS is saying my CPU is 8 core 16.threads, and 3.60 GHz, and I also see that in task manager and Ryzen master.

does Cinebench show you using all cores/threads when you do a multicore test?

No 😕

And now I tested blender, and the task manager and ryzen master shows that all cores and thread was used.

I dont know Cinebench a lot, but after what i have figured, it is 2 form for test, one "standard" and one "single core". In my case it seems like "standard" also is single core.

Is there something I need to activate or do for Cinebench to use all cores/ threads?

open Cinebench Preferences and look here:

It should be unchecked for the custom number of threads. If its checked. uncheck it.

That did the trick. It was checked and set to 1. So easy and so many hour's I have used to find out what is wrong.

At least i got a clean Windows again 😄

Thanks for the help!

I did score 4896 now with Edge, and some other programs open.
