Having an issue that occurs when I turn my PC on. I'll notice it's running really slow either when I boot up a game (runs at a significantly low FPS), or it will just be generally slow to loading things. It will usually fix itself once I restart the computer, but until then it will consistently lag like crazy with no end. I only have discord open on the side and sometimes a game. It's happened in multiple games, as well as, in different applications. There doesn't seem to be a real rhyme or reason when it occurs. There are days where it doesn't have any affect and there are days where I can't even run Roblox or League with more than 10 FPS. (Don't ask why I'm playing Roblox)

Also my PC struggles to run games like League of Legends with over 160FPS at high settings. (Has frequent and significant drops from 90-140. Never a consistent 160.) I feel like my card is underperforming or something is set up wrong internally. Anyone know what might be happening?

  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit (latest update)
  • ASRock B450M Pro4 (latest bios)
  • AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
  • 4x8GB (32GB total) Corsair Vengeance (clock speed on these is higher than when the motherboard supports)
  • ASUS Dual GeForce® RTX 2080 SUPER™ EVO OC edition 8GB (latest driver)
  • Samsung - 860 EVO 500GB boot drive
  • WD Caviar blue 500GB storage drive
  • Also have two other storage drives one an SSD 1TB and the other an HDD 1 TB

Also when I look at my CPU-Z it says my DRAM Frequency is 1064MHz and on the website it goes through all the supported frequencies and this isn't one of them. Is this just what it's running at with all the programs I have open or is this the set frequency it's running at? (I don't know how RAM frequency operates)

Your mobo should support 3200mhz ram, but rn it is running at 2133mhz, which is not good for ryzen cpus

which troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

I've tried updating drivers and I'm not really sure where else to go from there. I've done windows updates and those don't fix it either.

Restarting it will temporarily fix the issue. I shut my computer off each night so it has a chance to happen again when I go to turn the computer on once more.

I haven't noticed any pattern as to when it decides to lag really hard. I don't notice any programs having any significant impact on task manager either.

These are really all the notes I can think of about the issue.

how do you know its running at 2133? also how should i go about changing the frequency?

on userbenchmark, it is said here:image.thumb.png.faab99f6647389b8c545f8ef8f499b8d.png

In bios you can enable XMP. You can enter BIOS by pressing Del while you are turning on your pc, restarting also works. Then you should see this screen: image.thumb.png.bda96b17e74059b6ea82d649a6f1c6e6.png

Go to OC tweaker, it should look something like image.thumb.png.24163878203e60d2c9d7f416d6b38cc2.png

Then go to Load XMP setting, you should be able to pick a few settings, pick the one which is closest to DDR4-3600, if there are multiple which start with DDR4-3600, pick the one which has the lower numbers after it.

Okay so update, I changed the frequency to the rams frequency a few weeks ago and it was working fine for a couple of days. It then blue screened my computer and it wouldn't start up again until I reset it to the original frequency.

After setting it to the original frequency, today I noticed again it was running very slow again. I was getting like 10-15 fps on Minecraft with my 2080 and thought that was a little weird. I'm starting to think my GPU might be the culprit.

I restarted my PC and if you look at the video attached this happened for two booting cycles before rebooting again to windows. I'm at a complete loss and I have no idea what is going on right now.

Aside from this weird event, it has booted up and just lagged for no reason again on different days and I'm just really confused at this point I don't know what the issue could be. Maybe a virus? I'm really not sure.

Definitely could be the graphics card, do you have any other graphics card? Or even someone you could borrow their graphics card?
