Can I put my pc on cardboard

SquiddyButler

I was planning on putting it on my desk but the case is pretty big so I don't think it'll work right there. And I've heard people say it's not good on the carpet. So if I broke down the case box could I just put that on the carpet and would that work?

Hold up. Now wait a minute..

You want to remove the case from the equation and keep the bare components on a carpet.... and the carpet is on the floor?!

NO.

Carpet really isn't that much of a problem. I've run bare components on carpet for quite a while, and considering the fact that this guy's shit is in a case, it's even less of a problem.

If their case has a bottom-facing PSU fan, they just need to make sure it can get air and clean it regularly if they've got pets or if their room is on the dustier side.

@flibberdipper I mean he's saying that he'll take the case apart and keep the stuff on carpet (which is on the floor) -__-

Or is he talking about carpet on desk? Either way, isn't it unsafe to keep components especially motherboard exposed? I mean it's a desk, what if something falls on it O_o

The OP is talking about breaking apart a box and using that between the carpet and the PC.

And even if they were building the PC on a box with no case and putting that on the carpet, it'd be a non-issue. I ran a box-floor PC just fine for several months with a cat in the house. And yes, it can be a less-than-stellar idea having shit out in the open, but as long as you're not a completely absent-minded dingus it'd be fine.

No, I was going to put the cardboard on the carpet so dust and stuff doesn't get in the case because I heard that carpet was bad for it. Not using a case is a dumb idea lmao

It'd be fine unless you have some higher-pile carpet. My Enthoo Pro has been doing okay for quite a few years with maybe half an inch of clearance.

As long as there is a clear gap underneath for the PSU to pull in air then should be okay.

It'd be ideal if there was a dust filter over the intake as well, you'll just need to make sure to clean the dust filter regularly
