Does it have a PCIe slot or an AGP slot?
There were PCIe-capable P4s.

EDIT:
Can you also put the pictures in spoilers?

wait I have no idea that's why I'm asking... making a better pic,

Also forgot to mention I have several other 'Pentium' PC's in case someone has some suggestions, I may have the parts.... (ram for example)

Looks like AGP to me, especially with the cooler design.

Might be AGP Pro.

Can you take the graphics card out of the slot and take a picture of the slot for me, and can you also put all the existing pictures in spoilers? It takes awhile to scroll down.

I just checked, it says PCI for the two free slots.

So 1050ti would work? not sure about that PSU lol...

oh that's the gpu, I was wondering wtf it is 🤣

other thing is network card (don't need it)

PS it says GEFORCE 4 MX 420

PCI is not PCIe.
PCI is very different from PCIe.

PCI has 133 MB/s bandwidth, but for all of its slots.

PCIe has individual bandwidth, but has "lane allocation" that I don't understand.

Yeah, the GPU will have video output...

I see so 1050 won't work? 😕

I have another really old MSI maybe that'll work not sure.

The GPU is

GEFORCE 4 MX 420

btw

With what could I replace it in the best case?

Got it!  That doesn't look like PCI....... so Voodoo or what would be the best GPU to replace it?

yeah should work, but it can't be too good...

I've been looking for agp 4x 1.5v cards... I can't find any... they all have a different slot it seems...

I only have 1 AGP slot, and it's universal, so I don't have to worry about cards fitting at all.

Interesting that the card is low-profile.

I'm pretty sure as long as the card has the same notching, it should work.

Right seems to be backwards compatible.

this would fit and double the RAM! (for example)

not sure if it's worth it tho

Did a bit more research and any AGP 1.5V card will fit.

I'm not sure of the performance difference between the GeForce 4 MX 420 vs the GeForce 4 Ti 4800.

@ProjectBox153, do you have any thoughts? I don't know a lot about AGP cards - I've only really dealt with PCI ones.

yeah but I suppose agp 8x might be better even if it gets 'downgraded' to 4x.

the question really is which card!?

I don't trust this fan less medion pc card to be any good 😄

found this... but again, Idk if there's maybe another gen of cards compatible that would maybe be a reasonable upgrade. 🤔

That looks like your average S478 Pentium 4. Definitely not PCIe-era. What are you looking to do with this thing? Even with loads of upgrades you aren't going to be able to run modern software on it very well, and even web browsing will be terribly slow.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Just play games that are designed for XP basically... but with a better gpu than the thing that's in now - if that's a thing (seems so as there are at least 128mb cards?)

Also I still wonder what's up with the pci slots, they aren't meant for GPUs I guess?

PCI was what you used for your modem, LAN, sound, etc., so the PCIe of the era except worse.

I've got a Pentium III board and it's got 1 AGP universal slot, 6 PCI slots, and 1 ISA 16-bit slot.

I've got a modem in the ISA slot, a LAN and SCSI card in the PCI slots (and I'm going to be putting in a sound card).

PCI slots are designed for expansion(things like modems, network controllers, sound cards, storage controllers, etc.). Your system has an AGP slot already so there is no need to use a PCI GPU.

Right, so any suggestions what would be a good upgrade from the GeForce 4?  GeForce 4 TI perhaps?

Or what's the max I could put in there?

I mean I remember that GPU it's not bad but also not great im sure there are better options...
