I had a similar problem with an older driver when I went from my 680 to my first 780. I had to reformat in the end.

Hmmmm, strange, I'd installed this driver for the 2nd rig - FX8350 + Asus CVF + 16GB RAM + 2x GTX670 - and the installation process went thru w/o a hitch. As for the driver itself, I've not run across any major issue with it, it did revert to Windows Basic color scheme once or twice while I was surfing or simply on desktop (I had the same experience with the previous driver as well) but has not crashed or froze when I was playing games.
