Need recommendations on a multi-GPU capable case.

Looking to add to my F@H setup at the moment with a couple more GPUs. At the moment I'm using the 011-airflow but unfortunately it only has space for the 2 GPUs I'm running in it (2080 super and 2060 super). I would need one that could run 4 GPUs and it would have to have decent airflow. I've been looking at the Corsair 900D but it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere, this may be because of its age. I was also debating the Dark base pro 900 rev 2 from Be Quiet although not quite sure about the GPU capacity (the gamers nexus video on it didn't seem to indicate this). I know corsair has the 1000D, which is in stock, however it is a bit expensive and I don't really want an all glass showy-offy case as this PC is tucked away and out of sight.

I  wouldnt recommend a multi gpu setup,

Few games can benefit from it and some games actually take a performance hit.

you would be paying alot for another gpu for not alot of benefit

OP specifically mentioned this was for Folding@Home.

Personally I've always liked Fractal, so I'd consider the Meshify 2 XL as well.

Thanks! I do have a good record with fractal cases so I will have a look at that one.

Are you changing motherboards for the folding system as well? B550 Tomahawk only has two PCIe x16. The board I'm using in my folding system has three, but if I wanted to add a third GPU there wouldn't quite be enough space above the PSU in my Enthoo Pro. (If only Asus had put the first PCIe x16 slot in the first position instead of wasting that spot on a PCIe x1 nobody will ever use, I guess they did it to make space for larger CPU coolers.)

I think even in the Meshify 2 XL there's a good chance you'd run into the same problem with cramming a third card above the PSU basement, if it was exactly two slots you might be OK.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Yes I am planning on upgrading the motherboard, thinking something with at least 4pcie slots. I think the 900d looks like the best option without going into case modding.

I was curious so I went on pcpartpicker and looked at completed builds with 3-way or more SLI to see what type of chassis they were using. Unsurprisingly, I didn't see anything with GPU's newer than the Maxwell era. I did find this giga-chungus running 3x GTX 980's plus a double R9 390 monstrosity I never knew existed before:

Case is a Fractal Define XL R2, a couple of which actually are available on Amazon for a cool $300. Of course, those 980's he had are 2-slot cards, now almost everything mid-range or above protrudes at least a bit into a third slot.

In terms of the motherboard I'm thinking switching over to intel and going for this. Unless you go up to thread ripper there are little motherboards that offer more than 3 PCI-E x16 slots.  That case is in stock on Scan for £110 here in the UK and it looks perfect. Thanks for the advice!

I’m sure there are a lot of larger cases that can be had for less. Facebook market place is a good source.
I put 4 gpus in my air540’s.
Another one local for $50. Great airflow and management.
Plx chip really hates it though. Luckily I got a water block for the mobo for $20 to help that.

I will definitely try and hunt around a bit on Facebook and gumtree.
