Hi guys! I've started moving, and I decided to change my internet provider. Some background story.

Currently I'm with a provider named " Telenet ". They offer the fastest broadband internet in Belgium (currently I have a middle pack, 60 down/4 up). But their service is so horrible and filled with lies that I decided to change. An example, they say they offer "limitless internet", but when you download a certain amount (around 180-200gb) they lower your internet speed during the "peak hours". By lowering I mean dropping your internet to 2 down / .2 up, and their peak hours are everything between 7 to 23.

Now, the installation comes with a standard router with build in wifi, but the signal is horrible. So, I shut it down and placed my own router a Belkin N900. The provider I'm going to doesn't offer broadband but VDSL. I didn't know what VDSL was, appears to be some faster form of ADSL.

The problem is, I have to have a signal that's powerful enough to go through 2 floors to my sisters' room. I would use my N900, but it doesn't work with ADSL/VDSL, so I'd have to buy a new one.

The questions:

1. Do I need a VDSL router, or will a ADSL2 be "strong" enough to handle it? I would have 30 down/ 5 up, apparently the VDSL mainly affects your upload (?)

2. If I do need a VDSL one, please suggest one. I can only find 2 and they cost €200+.

3. If a ADSL2 will suffice (Q1), suggest one too. I have no experience with ADSL unfortunatly.

P.S.: I'm willing to drop 30 mbits because it gives me better service.

I don't understand why your current router won't work?

Who says it won't work?

I thought it wasn't compatible with ADSL. Is it?

The Belkin is a router not a modem.

Modems require a specific connection type, routers don't.
