Cheap Solidworks notebook?

so my cousin just hit me up asking for a cheap notebook thatll run solidworks.

 

hell need it for school soon and literally said the teacher told them the needed "at least 4gb of ram and an i3" which made me chuckle and pace palm at the same time 

 

but idk jack shit about solidworks or what it needs so im asking you guys what would be the requirements for good solidworks performance?

 

their website says 16gb of ram and the cpu req is equally non-sencical "3.3ghz or better"  

 

but they also list only quadros and the likes as certified gpu which makes me worry hell need a good gpu which intern always jacks up the price.

 

so i need some hands on information from the field here. what will it take to run solidworks decently without breaking a students wallet?

nope sry. as cheap as possible. would i tell you the budget he told me youd just tell its not possible. im having really ignorant / tough clients here

Well not to sound like a dick but for some people $1200 is "cheap" and some consider $500 expensive, so unless he can come up with at least a rough number, it's impossible to give any decent suggestions imo.

well going from what his teacher told him .... 500 is alot. really im just trying to figure outif you absolutly need a gpu or integrated graphics could be enough.

I would look for a used Thinkpad W or P series. T series would also be good option if you can't find a W or P you like.

It likely depends on what he is doing in Solidworks, but a dGPU would help, yes.
