I've been having internet issues for the past 5 days.

I have security cameras around the building, and I try to connect to them yet I'm unable to.

I believe the connection is unstable, but I cannot pinpoint the issue.

When I'm at home I try to remotely access/view the security cameras with this one software, but it's unable to connect properly.

I got Cox to come (my ISP) and they said our hardware was old and needed an upgrade.

Also, my own PC in my office in the building also has no internet access. It's connected via ethernet to a router/switch (not sure what it is. It's not the main router though.) and is unable to access the internet, saying the connection is 'limited'. I tried many common troubleshooting things, and even tried random things such as system restore, virus scans, and sfc /scannow in cmd.

Hope you guys can help.

plug one camera and your PC into a router, and isolate yourself from the outside network.

If you can access the camera (with something like VNC) your set. Otherwise, its likely the network. Also, are the camera's on wireless? If so, that is your problem if you have more than 1 or 2 connected to the same AP.

start small first

if your office computer is reporting unlimited access, it most likely means your IP is wrong, or one isnt issued by DHCP

open up network properties of your Nic and it may say your IP is something stupid or random.. or even 0.0.0.0

the IP is a normal looking one.

192.168.1.100.

But I cannot connect to the internet.

So you're running a business? Contract someone to do it for you.

Five days is huge downtime especially when you're talking about the security of the building. Better yet? Get a third party firm to handle the security for you.

It's my dad's. I'm trying to help yet I can't do anything to fix it, I tried everything I know.

I'm fairly limited to networking troubleshooting. I advised to reset the modem and router, nothing really works.

They are wireless. I think.

I have to use this program called 'myDVR' by the company Swann to connect to them.

Fair enough. Still, there's no shame in recommending that he consults a professional, even if it does cost significantly more. There's nothing wrong with simply saying "it's out of my league".

But yeah, I'll show your guys' posts and hopefully it'll wake him up lol.

if windows is reporting Limited Network Access then theres an IP problem

from your investigation, your path should lead you to your router/switch/comms

can you ping your router successfully?

more importantly, ping the routers IP address that your computer is specifying as 'default gateway'
