Game Design Ideas

Looking to design a game with a few friends and my brother. I'm looking for cool ideas or really anything (art style suggestions, mechanics, programming languages, etc.). I'm currently going to be using GamerMaker for right now, something to get the idea into a tangible, playable game and then refine it with a different engine.

 

I'm looking (of course, its the style and can't draw) a 2D arcade type game. I'm also looking for something that may be an out of the box idea. We're currently at the drawing boards and need some inspiration.

 

OP will try to make something soon and post beta (if anything happens)! Will be looking for feedback.
