Hi, I got a pretty old computer, an i7 2600. It's an old cpu but the clock speed is decent (3.4ghz)

I'm planning on upgrading it but i was wondering before i upgrade the pc, could i put an rtx 3060 in it to play some game like on a Nintendo switch emulator. My thinking was instead of buying a switch, i could upgrade the video card while I'm waiting  to buy a decent full upgrade

Would it work ? at what kind of bottleneck im i looking at ?

Your PC is fine there is still room for upgrades. Get the 3060 and then upgrade to the best CPU your motherboard supports. You can also do RAID that most people neglect doing.

I'm actually replying from a machine with an i7-2600 in it right now. A 3060 would be fine, especially if you're looking to upgrade the rest of your machine later on. When I purchased my Radeon RX 570 I put it into a machine with a Core 2 Duo for a while.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Hi,
So great to hear,

What about Raid ? If i got a SSD the performance would be already at max

Or are you talking abouting making a raid of ssd ?
