Operating System Not Found

I recently did a new build and got a new skhynix SSD for a fresh windows 10 install. every thing works great except for the fact that whenever I boot I get the "operating system not found, try disconnecting any drives that don't have an OS installed" well that worked which is great, except for the fact that I cannot boot with my other drives connected. All drives show in BIOS (which I updated in an attempt to fix the issue) for my mobo (Gigabyte B365M DS3H).

Everything I've found online is advice for people that just cannot boot at all, however the disconnecting drives does work for me and I can boot just fine after that.

Thanks in advance for any help

It could be that your pc is trying to boot from the wrong drive.

Try connecting all drives , go to bios settings, then make sure the PC boots in the right order. For example

1 Ssd1(operating system)

2 ssd2 (extra storage)

3 etc

If it doesnt work:

On most PC's you would also find something called Windows boot manager , try that as #1

For example:

1 Windows boot manager

2 ssd1(operating system)

3 ssd2(extra storage)

4 etc

Well then , we've got a few things tot try :

1:try disabling fastboot

2: make sure boot option is set to UEFI

3:try unplugging your PC then unplug the tiny CMOS/bios battery for 1 min , put it back in , plug the PC in , make sure the right ssd is #1 and see what happens.

4: re-arange the sata data cables on the motherboard

5: reinstall windows

I tried all of these and still the same problem. I’m really surprised reinstalling windows didn’t work that was kind of the last resort I was trying to avoid but I figured it would at least work. Now I’m really stumped.

Your Master boot record is botched. It either happened randomly or your windows installation was not completed properly. Here what you should do

Disconnect all the drives except the windows one.

Plug in your windows installation usb and boot into the installation media.

Choose repair your computer.

Choose troubleshoot.

Choose comand prompt.

Enter these commands.

bootrec /FixMbr bootrec /FixBoot
bootrec /ScanOs bootrec /RebuildBcd

Close everything and try to boot again. It should work.

If this doesn't work, you can just reinstall windows to fix it.

I already reinstalled windows which didn’t fix it. Disk management also doesn’t detect the drives even though the bios does

Do you get a similar problem when you plug the drives into a different computer?

Sorry for the late reply but I figured I'd add it in here just in case anyone else has this problem and stumbles upon this thread. Truns out all I had to do was disable CSM. My bios was set to UEFI same as the OS install but for whatever reason disabling CSM was the fix. still not sure why if I'm being totally honest but that was the fix
