HDMI 2.1

Mihneaz

Hello, I've recently bought a new computer along with HDMI 2.1.

The monitor that I also bought is an MSI Optix G27CQ4 - 27 inches, WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels), that supports up to 165hz.

My question is, does the HDMI 2.1 can support 165hz @2K resolution?

My graphics card is a RTX 3090.

Thank you.

It says on the monitor specs...

You need to use the DisplayPort connection for 165 Hz.

The HDMI port only can do up to 144 Hz.

By the way, MSi product page only says it is HDMI 2.0b, rather than HDMI 2.1.

HDMI 2.1 does, yes. However, the monitor doe not support HDMI 2.1, only HDMI 2.0 (and lower), which supports up to 144Hz. You'll need to use DisplayPort for the full 165Hz.

Thank you very much guys, can you please recommend me a good Display Port that can support the requirements?

Not a brand I recognise, but it's not super cheap so most likely fine.

But does the monitor supports Display 1.4?

No. The monitor supports Display Port 1.2, which has enough bandwidth for 1440p 165Hz.

Just to be clear, there's no such thing as 1.4 or 1.2 cables. All that matters is it's rated for HBR2 bandwidth or higher. The cables are backwards compatible so don't worry.

So that means that this one can work, sorry for spamming this much.
