Asus ROG Crosshair VIII won't boot with monoblock

mxr00t

Hello, I'm doing a new build, I have installed everything successfully without issues, while I was trying to run the motherboard with everything attached, it doesn't boot at all only the RGB lights on, I thought this was due having Ryzen 5000 but then I updated the BIOS using bios flash update but the problem still the same, after a lot of troubleshooting and taking parts in and out, I discovered that when I take off the monoblock from the motherboard it boots, the second I mount it again it doesn't, is this normal for a monoblock not to work if loop is not filled? or there is something wrong with the block I received and I need to exchange it? I wanted to make sure everything is working properly before filling the loop.

Specs:

CPU - Ryzen 5950x

Mobo - ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi

RAM - Gskill Trident Neo 2x32 3600

PSU - Corsair Hx1000

VGA - RTX 3080

It might be related your mounting pressure, I had a shit ton of issues with my previous delidded intel build where it would take me half a day properly mount the CPU cooler otherwise it just would not boot. I would also make sure block is not making contact with anything it shouldnt.

You just made my day and gave 3 days of troubleshooting an end, thanks a lot, it seemed that the backplate that came with the monoblock is so heavy and tightened, I replaced it with the original backplate which is lighter and it boots normally now 🙂
