how to make the Windows "open Volume Mixer" sound panel reopen to the previously widened view [to see more volume slider controls at once] or just a statically longer one?

Sorry I don't know where to post this really..

Can you not move your mouse to the edge of the window to resize it? Or do you mean to lock it into a size so you don't have to resize it every time?

You mean the volume mixer?
Right click the volume icon in the systray and

If you meant just have the window that opens, be wider by default... Then no.

If you have a decent sized monitor, you can use the windows key + an arrow to snap the window to the side of your monitor.  This will cause it to stretch to be half the size of your monitor.  For me, that's plenty to show all of my devices.

Lock it (at a wider size) to avoid having to resize it each and every time.

That's true and I hadn't considered it. Better just not as good has a longer predefined opening length!

Well, I found a workaround of sorts, but not sure if it will be exactly what you want.

Here's how I did it anyway:

1.) Navigate to the file location (usually in the Windows folder -> System32 -> SndVol.exe (Or, C:\Windows\System32\SndVol.exe) assuming you don't have a funky installation or hierarchy or anything)

2.) Right click - Send to -> Desktop (Create a Shortcut)

3.) Navigate to your desktop, right click the new shortcut. Click 'Properties'.

4.) Change "Run" option from 'Normal window' to 'Maximized'.

5.) Click apply. Close Properties window.

To test it, double-click the shortcut on your desktop to see if it does what you want. You can then 'Pin to Taskbar' and move it around to suit your liking. Can also set a shortcut so that you can open it that way, too.
