Playback Problems

Go to solution Solved by Mark Kaine,

DDU and install drivers from like 20 days ago and hope that fixes it.

Also has there been a windows update since u last installed nvidia drivers?

So i basically cant watch youtube anymore cause the video playback is lagging and my audio goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Anyone else had this Problem ?

I initially thougth it was my gpu but doesnt seem like it anymore.

No weird processes in the background so i dont know anymore. Audio drivers are up to date.

Okay this stresses me now. Chrome went back to using 25% gpu for youtube....

I do also have playback issues during playing games since a few weeks.
Basically everytime a video starts playing my game and the video lags for a few seconds. For me it seems to be related to CPU ressources.

What's your hardware config ?

Do you use multiple monitors ?

Any difference between different video resolutions?

rtx3080

r5 5600x

64gb 3600mhz ram

msi x570 unify

1200watt psu

2.at the moment only one

3. yeah at 720p i only lag when skipping through the video.

4k now has only micro lags. I recorded the video with nvidia tool and the recording doesnt have audio issues but the video lags are shown. They get more extrem the more tabs are open.

Hard to tell what the issue could be. Did the driver reinstallation help?

If not check the Windows power settings and uninstall recent Windows 10 updates. If nothing works I'd just reinstall Windows 10 and don't bother trying to identify the problem.

But that didn't fix it for you?? (apparently)

Also op said nothing about playing games, just that videos lag?

Looking at that screen shot, seemingly one video using up 26% of their gpu just seems wrong, and I seriously have to wonder why let two videos run at the same time (if that's what's happening, not enough info so can just speculate)

I still think DDU and install older drivers might fix the issue, hopefully!

I never tried re-installing Windows to fix my issue.

What I'm saying is that I suddenly saw lags on YT due to CPU limitations, even tho there weren't any lags before. It doesn't matter that I'm also running a game. What matters is that I didn't change anything and also experience lags, just like he does.

I also think that it is driver related, be it the NVidia driver or something else. So that's why I recommend to simply re-install Windows. It's often a lot easier to uninstall the entire OS than to keep searching for the specific cause of the issue.

Apparently this is norm for watching 4k videos... so basically watch 4 of them and you have your gpu pegged at ~100%...  but one obviously shouldn't be an issue (unless playing a game that uses more that 75% then it's just simple math that there would be issues)

GPU is "sleeping" at that point too (one 4k video running, not my overlay btw, it's the video, but Afterburner is open and shows my gpu not doing much, regarding clocks etc)

it could be, but I think from the looks of it it's just using up a lot of gpu, decode and 3d even... note that the cpu usage is only around 2%.

But nothing is stuttering for me so it's probably still driver related.

And yes if nothing helps windows install is a last resort sort of thing to me because usually it *is* drivers, or hardware, etc... still running my windows install from over 2 years ago and no issues... personally not something I would do, although in my case it's of course unnecessary because I do have a couple of full backups just in case. 🙂
