Go for 1440p if possible. 1080p is also fine.

1440p is too hard for amd cards from exerience
even if you went with amd for 1440p you will lag and tearing and juggering unlike Nvidia
Nvidia is the way to go
so don't bother

Nothing wrong with getting a quality monitor, you can get a better graphics card later on down the line. You'll be using the monitor for longer anyway.

4k is higher then 1440p which means it would run it easier, mate stop

point is sure amd cards can run games on 4k and 1440p

BUT

they will lag as hell and most likely get tearing

unlike Nvidia

because

Nvidia have G-SYNC

how did you guys forgot about that?

Just because a card does not have G-sync doesn't mean it will lag holly shit, the card is more then enough to power 1440p so there should be no issue, otherwise they would tear on 1080p going by your logic.

First of all not all monitors are G-Sync compatible. I own 3 r9-290's and with burn in I played games at 1440p with no tearing, no lag, and played as smooth as butter.

Okay so my opinion, if you can afford to do it get a 1440p monitor. Unless a higher refresh rate is required or Budget is concern.

I didn't run them in crossfire. I ram them separately so the load was greater for burn in. Do you even know what G-Sync does? It doesn't improve performance, it stop the tearing and stuttering by allowing the card to control the onscreen frame rate. If you were to have a FPS dip from 60 to 30, it will be a lot less noticeable keeping the frames smoother.

i did not say it improves performance did i? i said it improves the general overall smooth and gameplay

unlike mantle which just boost fps at low res lol

I'm sorry, but a GTX titan SLI with 3 way 4k surround won't lag at all. Yes it does make it smoother and that's it's whole purpose. Mantle does more than that, I tested it with a R7-250 and a a8-5600k and it boosted my FPS even at 1080p. It does help for people gaming at low resolution too.
