PSU killer

NoobSlayer100

Hi, I think my pc became a psu killer. When I first build my pc I used a generic psu and works fine for 1 year until 1 psu cable snap so I change it with a new generic psu.

It works fine for 2 days and suddenly shuts down but fans and light still on. I shut it off by removing the power cable then boot it again and it boots, but after a minute it shuts off again and never post.

So I change the psu again with a new and branded one (corsair cx550m) and it boots with no problem but the next day same problem comes back suddenly shuts off but fan and lighs are working, no post no beep.

I know that generic psu's are not good but if the first one works fine with my pc for a long time then why the other replacement and a branded keeps dying? What might be killing the psu? Please help.

Specs:
Mobo: Asus EX-A320M gaming
Cpu: Ryzen 3 3200g
Ram: Ramsta ddr4 2666mhz 8gb
HDD: Seagate baracuda 1tb

Is your computer plugged straight into the wall, or through an APC?

Could be super dirty power coming in, could be a short or something.

I'd get a new PSU, probably another CX550m, along with an APC, and when installing the new PSU, completely dismantle the computer and inspect the motherboard and cards to make sure they're not shorting out or touching something they're not supposed to. It'll give you a good excuse to up your cable management game at the minimum.

Just to add, I have very clean power to my house, but I live in the woods, and the power will go out multiple times at night when there's a windstorm.

APC's save computers....

Those aren't power supply problems.

The issues you're experiencing could be caused by a faulty motherboard, faulty graphics card, a faulty driver or a different hardware component.

I have a motherboard diagnostic card and it displays 00 which is PSU or motherboard problem, but I dont want to change my motherboard because it still works when I install a new psu (before dying the next day). Or maybe its the symptoms of dying motherboard?
