AMD Anthlon 2 X2 220

can anyone tell me if the AMD Anthlon 2 x2 220 is compatible with a Pavilon P6000 computer? i just got this processor from a friend and he said the processor was compatible but he said when he tried it only the fan turned on. can someone tell me why it would be doing that?

You need to be more specific. I googled Pavilion P6000, and only came up with Intel versions

If it's M2N78-LA, on the original bios, it probably won't support the Athlon II. You have to find a bios for the board. Look at a web site called Bios Mods.
