Random Power Downs Under Load (while gaming)

Go to solution Solved by EDSman11,

I ended up resolving this by doing a simple bios update. The bios version I was on was F31q (Release Date: 12/18/2020). Updating to F31 (Release Date: 12/31/2020) fixed the issue completely. Must have been a stability issue with the new 5000 series processor. Also worth noting the version of the bios I was running previously (F31q) is no longer available on gigabyte's website.

So I just finished a new build and I am running into an issue where my PC turns itself off under load. No BSOD or anything, it just powers down and stays off (no auto restart). I play a significant amount of Escape from Tarkov and the shut downs only seem to occur after a couple hours of playtime. At first I thought it may be an overheating issue, however, I had HW monitor running while playing and my temps seemed to remain between 75-80 C on the CPU. Running Prime95 for ~10 min yields temps on the CPU of roughly 90-95 C, however, the system doesn't seem to experience the power down issue. Because of this, I'm thinking its either a GPU or PSU issue. I cant imagine that the system is drawing more than 750 watts though right? Is there anywhere I can find a dump file that would give me any hints as to the cause of the power down?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

I'm not 100% certain but it powers off just as if the pc had completely lost power. It boots up fine immediately after, but hopping back in game results in a power down usually within 5-10 minutes (rather than the initial 2-3 hours).

Could you check if the PSU clicks on the shutdown, studden shutdowns like that are usually PSU problems.

It does make a click (pop) noise along with the high pitched noise of the fans winding down, however, it makes the same noise when I shut the PC down normally through windows.

Can you record it?
