hi guys, i'm looking for an upgrade on my powercolor 7850 1gb.

this is because i do not feel this GPU is powerful enough to run some of the games i want.

i want an upgrade that will last me until the new cards come out later this year, then i will be getting crossfire / SLI, i was going to buy 2x R9 290 but i do not feel this is worth it since new cards come out later this year and i want to have the latest and greatest my budget is around £150 so i hope this can get me something that will run everything up until then, i'm gaming on 1080p just so you know,

R9 270x reccomendations inc

Just get a single 290 or 780.. Any more is overkill for 1080p.

750ti

The 750 Ti is a downgrade from the 7850..

thanks but i really think that is a downgrade...

well as i was typing my reply, that just reinforces it, i forgot to add i'll be getting a 1600p monitor with the upgrade next year, i don't really want to throw money at a 290 or 780 when i'll replace it in a year, i mean i could just get a 770 and be happy , you think this is a good idea?

There's little point getting a 1600p display when 4K doesn't cost much more.

Next year is a long while from now and many things will change by then. I suggest not spending for anything so far ahead.

Why not wait or just buy a high-end card now and sell it later?

don't really like doing that, i just think it's inefficient buying high end now when i don't need to, then buying another high end when they come out, just the sort of person i am i guess

a 780/770 is a good idea you can add them later to different builds or sell it

yeah, was thinking the exact same thing, but not 780 because that's more than £100 more than a 770 and don't really need the extra clock or cores, and R9 290's are the same price here, and that goes against the point of this post ;)

true, that's why i'm buying something quite temporary, will last me a year or so and that's fine

a 7850 is an ok card IMO I'd just wait for the new ones to come out my 7870 died and am using my friends 560Ti and am finding even that performs alright at 1080p. I'll probably end up picking up a 870.

i really regret buying this card, it has really bad graphical bugs sometimes, it lags in most games (ghosts, crysis 3, bf3, and pretty much any other game i play) yeah i'm just gonna wait for the new ones and sell my 7850 to a friend then buy a 770 i think

But by the time you actually get round to buying the card to replace the 770 the new cards will have been out for a bit if I were you I'd either just buy the best card you can get now or wait for the new ones.  Buying this temporary card which is still quite a high end card doesn't seem like a great value to me.

no i understood just fine, just seems a waste of money, a decent card like a 780ti/290x will last a good couple of years anyway, even if the new cards come out they will only add a few % performance increase

you need to weigh up the performance difference between getting high end card now and the new cards, and the money you will lose by buying a temporary card that you will lose money on

does that make any sense? you either lose money, or lose a tiny bit of performance

i see, since i have a disposable income anyway, i think buying a temporary graphics card will make me content with my rig, since eveything is new except for the 7850 and the psu, im buying a new psu next week so that is the only thing left, and i am not happy with it (i hope you can understand this) so yeah that's why ^^

if you can afford it then balls to it, do it anyway :) if i was in your position I would just buy the best thing you can afford and then buy a really high end monitor next time you have money

£580 a month SUCKS for buying monitors, but i guess i'll just save up and buy a 1440P IPS after PSU and (most probably) a 280x
