Hey ya all, I think about organizing a LAN party, but idk what games I could play. I think minecraft could be noice cuz everyone has it, u don’t need a NASA pc for it and it’s a hell lot of fun, but I think that one game is not enough.

Did you ever make a LAN party?

How was it? What games did you play? Share your thoughts.

Thx for advice, and have a nice day pumpkins!

Many, many, many, many many times. Among our favorites are Warcraft III custom maps (Warlock, Wintermaul, Enfo's Team Survival etc), good ol' Counter-Strike 1.6, Unreal Tournament (both classic and 2004) and Quake 3. The absolute must for our LAN parties is Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. Wonderfully whacky co-op shooter, that can only be described as a collection of the craziest discarded level design ideas brought together and turned into a game. It is especially fun after a couple of beers.

We are under 18, and I think that they won’t buy a game (cuz… life)

second all those... maybe some other esports titles... rocket league, overwatch, etc.

Unreal Tournament absolute blast from the past... if you can find a copy, I'd give that a go...

Also the GMod mini games are pretty good (prop hunt, TTT, GMod Murder, etc.)

Obviously disregard the beer part then. We usually go with old games because they're the games from when we were young(er), and because we either own them or they're often on sale during the LAN for next to nothing.

Look at what games you all have and run with those. It is easy to spice the gameplay up at a LAN with what ever rules etc. you can come up with, that wouldn't usually be possible or fun over the internet (almost as in custom game modes). I think the most important part is that everyone is having fun, so if one person is getting absolutely trampled or just not enjoying a game, maybe finish that off and move on to something else, even if the rest of the group is enjoying it. It sucks to be the one person not having a good time while everyone else are enjoying themselves.

used to play unreal tournament, quake 3, carmageddon, and some voxel game with sniper i forget what it was called now, delta force or something.

also played heroes of might and magic 3 but it's turn based strategy and won't be great if people are beginners, you have to know the units and their abilities

wolfenstein enemy territory was awesome, not sure if it still works these days (it's based on quake 2 or quake3 engine)... it can be done with large number of players and there's classes of soldiers (medic, engineer, etc) and maps where you have to complete objectives (like one class has to put dynamites to destroy some door then engineer has to repair something and so on.. not sure it has lan server but setting up a local dedicated server would take minutes.

I also remember Dyna Blaster  but  i don't remember if it's one same pc (2 players different keys) or if it can be played over lan - though i'm sure there's clones of this by this point, it's a game from 1992.

newer games that would probably be fun

Worms Reloaded (if the older Worms Armageddon doesn't work)

Left 4 dead 1 and 2

dead island

Trine  1 and 2  (and others?) can be done with 3 players  co-op

Jamestown,  Sine Mora  -  the plane flying shoot all time auto scroll kinda games

torchlight 2  (hack and slash , kinda like diablo)

dungeon defenders (multiplayer coop)
