The situation: I have recently picked up a GTX 1650 Super as an upgrade from the RX 570 that came with my prebuilt system (Cyberpowerpc GMA4000BST)

and I have noticed that the GTX 1650 Super requires a 6-pin power input, however I can only locate an 8-pin cable (The power supply cables are at the bottom of the PC, under a metal panel that I have no clue how to remove.)

Would it be safe for me to plug the 8 pin cable into the 6 pin GPU?

An "8 pin" videocard power cable is actually "6+2 pin PCIE". The +2 can be split off to create a 6 pin PCIE cable:

Oh my gosh, this worked! After a bit of fiddling I was able to split the cable, will update after installing the GPU
