if you are going to get a 150$ pair of headphones you should get an amp. if you want i know someone that is selling an 02 amp + dac combo on the forum for 150$ (which is a complete steal)

I actually wonder, why there are this many ath-m50 recommendations? I mean for desktop use, just grab 558 or 990 pro's depending on the music you listen to.

i just though i would mention them so that no one else had to, because evetually some one was probably going to, i pretty much always recommend the 558's for that price

990's have more bass than the 880's, but is it good quality Tight TIGHT bass?

I have no idea. Bass is subjective; but I hear people really like the bass of the 990s?
